Mushroom book shop

Posted by Tom, 11th October 2008 in My Artwork

I've been working on a flash game recently, doing some background artwork and other aspects to go in the game. Here's the latest addition: a bookshop carved into a mushroom. I quite like the simple bright colours on this one:

The happy toad

I used to keep a lot of toads as pets and they're pretty interesting creatures. There's a very famous one from children's literature. Here's my drawing of a toad, coloured in photoshop.

Diving with giant crab

Posted by Tom, 17th August 2008 in My Artwork

Here's a painting I made in photoshop. I decided to try drawing straight into the package, without doing the drawing on paper first (which is how I usually work). I came up with the idea after doing a really random bit of scribbling:

And then I worked up the rough drawing in photoshop. Photoshop is a great tool for artists. It lets you add in colours super fast and of course it's cheap (once you've bought the software) as you don't need any paper or to buy paint and other materials.

It's a good job he's a friendly crab. And I'm pleased they don't get that large in real life.
